What Moves the Price of Custom Furniture
Size
Most pieces are priced by how much of them there is: linear metres of wardrobe or kitchen run, or the seat count and configuration of a sofa. A single built-in wardrobe on one wall and a floor-to-ceiling fit-out across a master bedroom are the same product type at very different prices, which is why the wardrobe range is so wide.
Material
Material is the second biggest lever. The cost calculator's pricing model uses four tiers, each priced relative to standard MDF:

Hardware and add-ons
Soft-close hinges, LED lighting, mirror panels, sliding doors and push-to-open systems each add a fixed amount in the calculator model, from AED 450 for soft-close hinges to AED 1,500 for sliding doors. They are small next to the carcass cost but easy to underestimate when you add several.
Location
The calculator treats Dubai as the baseline, Sharjah as about 5% lower and Abu Dhabi as about 10% higher, reflecting delivery and installation logistics. Your exact figure is confirmed in the quote.
Installation and VAT
The calculator adds a flat installation allowance and an optional 5% UAE VAT line, and lets you switch VAT off so you can compare quotes on the same basis. When you compare any two quotes, check whether delivery, installation and VAT are inside each price or added afterwards. That one question explains most of the gap between quotes that look similar.
